Work Experience Program
Our work experience program gives students the chance to step into a real workplace and offer a firsthand look at a wide range of roles and services.
With over 100 different services available, from community programs and waste management to planning and community laws, students will have the chance to explore many career options and see what sparks their interest. All while having the flexibility to fit the experience around school.

Structured Workplace Learning
Structured Workplace Learning offers students the opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge within local government as part of their school program. Through this experience, students can apply the theory they've learned in the classroom to real-world workplace situations. This program is typically part of the VCAL or VET programs.
During a placement, students will be assigned specific tasks to demonstrate their competence in their chosen study area.
Structured Workplace Learning placements are flexible and can be tailored to fit students' schedules. Students may complete a placement in a one-week block or attend the workplace for one or two days per week over an agreed number of weeks.

Cover letter
Your cover letter should be no longer than one page in length and provide an overview of your skills and experience. This letter explains why you are interested in the position and the reasons why we should hire you.

A resume outlines your skills, work history, experience, knowledge, and abilities. A strong resume:

• uses bullet points to highlight skills acquired from past roles

Interviews
After the application deadline for each position, the hiring manager reviews all submissions and typically creates a short list within two (2) weeks.
If you're shortlisted for an interview, we'll contact you by phone.
Our job interviews are conducted by a panel of 2 to 3 people and follow a structured format. All applicants are asked the same questions, with follow-up questions dependent on responses.

Successful candidates
If your interview is successful, we'll conduct reference and any other relevant pre-employment checks. If you're then selected for a position, you'll receive a letter of offer.
