Our Council Plan 2021-25 was adopted by Council in June 2021 and sets Council’s priorities and direction over four years.
The Council Plan was developed following extensive deliberative community engagement, which had over 470 people engage with Councillors and officers. This includes the use of a Community Panel, which was made up of volunteers who represented a range of community perspectives from different demographics, sectors and interest groups within East Gippsland. The panel members developed a thorough set of recommendations for inclusion in the Council Plan.
This Council Plan focuses on what we want for East Gippsland now and for the future, and documents how we will work towards this. This will be driven by the Council vision:
East Gippsland is an inclusive and innovative community that values our natural environment, puts community at the centre of Council decision-making and creates the conditions in which communities can thrive.
This overarching vision of the Council Plan guides the five strategic objectives:
These four strategic objectives are enabled by the fifth strategic objective:
The Council Plan was developed with consideration to the ongoing work in recovery to ensure the community and economic recovery continues to be a focus across the four years following the 2019-20 bushfires and the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Annual Action Plan 2024-25 is the companion document to the Council Plan and details the activities Council will deliver towards achieving the strategic objectives during the financial year.
This plan outlines the actions, major initiatives, and strategic indicators. Progress reports on the listed actions will be presented to Council on a quarterly basis and at the end of the financial year in the Annual Report. Previous progress reports are listed below.
Every three months, staff report on their progress on achieving the actions in the Council Plan.
These reports are presented to Council.
