At the Council Meeting held on Tuesday 25 June 2024, Council:
Adopted the 2024/25 Budget. Council has kept rates inline with the Victorian Government's rates cap of 2.75%, which is below inflation. Non-statutory user fees and charges will align with inflation at 3.5%, with no change to green waste fees or the waste levy. Operational efficiencies are expected to save $1.3 million for 2024/25, with a further $3 million in forward estimates. The budget includes a capital works program of $91.383 million and major projects totalling $10.961 million. A forecast operating surplus of $28.961 million is projected, though there is an underlying deficit of $5.608 million when accounting for income from grants and contributions for capital works.
Adopted the 10-Year Financial Plan for 2024/25 to 2033/34.
Adopted the 4-Year Revenue and Rating Plan 2024/25 to 2027/28
Awarded a contract for the Buchan Recreation Reserve upgrade. The planned improvements include new sports courts (for Netball/Tennis) with floodlighting.
Awarded a contract for Stage 3B of the Moroney Street, Bairnsdale upgrade.
