Council meeting outcomes – Tuesday 6 August

At the Council meeting on Tuesday 6 August, Council made the following decisions:

  • Resolved to issue a notice of decision to refuse to grant a Planning Permit Application for a two-lot subdivision and buildings and works for a second dwelling at 34-36 Eighth Avenue Raymond Island.
  • Adopted the Fair Access Policy.  The policy seeks to address known barriers experienced by women and girls in accessing and using community sports infrastructure. It supports Council to take positive action towards achieving gender equality in the access and usage of community sports infrastructure where Council is the landowner and facility manager.
  • Noted a report on the Agricultural Sector Advisory Committee’s 9 May meeting and will consider the recommendations from the meeting.
  • Awarded a contract for construction of the Bastion Point groyne wall remediation works to Paul Volk Contracting. a local company with experience in marine construction projects. This work is required to protect the integrity of the rock wall. The groyne remediation works will cost $1,012,175. This will be funded from Council’s budget and a Better Boating Victoria grant of $167,000.
  • Awarded a contract for CON2024 1652 Waste and Recycling Trailer Services to Tambo Waste Proprietary Limited, for a two-year period with one extension option of up to two years. Council manages 13 waste trailers in remote communities: Club Terrace, Combienbar, Furnell, and Chandlers Creek, Goongerah, Tubbut, Deddick, Dellicknora, Gelantipy, Wulgulmerang, and Genoa.
  • Approved Wellington Shire Council to award the contract for the supply of information communications technology equipment to a panel of suppliers. The contract includes categories such as laptops and tablet devices, desktop monitors, ICT infrastructure and network equipment Council also approved Wellington Shire Council to award a separate contract to a panel of providers for print and copier services, for a three-year period. Council has a Shared Service Arrangement with Wellington Shire Council for its ICT services, which provides a range of efficiencies for both organisations.
