Road naming proposal – Unnamed Lane in LAKES ENTRANCE to ‘Goding Lane’.
Council is proposing to name an unnamed lane in Lakes Entrance ‘Goding Lane’.
The location and extent of the road proposed to be named is shown below:
Background
The unnamed laneway will need to be named to allow for the allocation of logical addressing, complying with the Australian/New Zealand Rural and Urban Addressing Standards.
Council received a proposal from a Goding family member to name the lane ‘Goding Lane’. The proposal included evidence that Eric Goding operated the town dairy/ice works on the laneway for more than 70 years and had owned the property since 1977.
Eric Goding supported local sporting and community groups and often supplied dairy products to people in need. He was a very popular and respected member of the Lakes Entrance community.
The above proposed road naming adheres to the Naming rules for places in Victoria– Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities 2016 (the Naming Rules) and Australian New Zealand Standards for rural and urban addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011.
Submissions
This proposal complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2022.
Affected property owners/ratepayers/occupiers are being consulted regarding the naming proposal and Council will advertise the results of this consultation in due course.
Community members are invited to respond to this proposal before its formal consideration by the Registrar of Geographic Names Victoria.
