Cann Valley District comprises of the following localities: Cann River Township, Noorinbee, Noorinbee North, Tonghi Creek, Buldah, Chandlers Creek, Club Terrace, Combienbar, Tamboon, Tamboon South and Wingan River.
After the devastating bushfire events of 2019-2020 the residents of Cann Valley District formed an interim District Representative Group to lead the way in the recovery process for the community. This interim group will shortly become an incorporated association and will take carriage of the District Community Plan (endorsed December 2019) and bushfire recovery priorities under the pillars of natural, built, social, economic and cultural healing.
With support from Council and the Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV) the District Representative Group also provides a Cann Valley District Newsletter each fortnight to inform keep all in the loop about the district’s community events and activities, current service information and the latest bushfire recovery and COVID-19 news.
Construction has been completed on the Cann River roundabout, freight rest area and streetscaping in a joint project between Council, VicRoads and United Petroleum.
Funded by the Australian and Victorian governments and Council, the new roundabout was constructed at the intersection of the Monaro and Princes Highways and Tamboon Road while a new freight rest area was built at the United Petroleum service station.
Community feedback has been integral to the project with streetscaping, improved lighting and safer speeds through the centre of Cann River.
