Locality Boundary Realignment between Lakes Entrance and Kalimna
East Gippsland Shire Council is proposing to realign the locality boundary between Lakes Entrance and Kalimna.
The location and extent of the proposed locality realignment is shown below:
The extended community is invited to provide feedback on this proposal.
Council received a request from Ambulance Victoria to realign the locality boundary between Lakes Entrance and Kalimna.
Due to the current locality boundary alignment, a section of Apex Park, the main boat ramp facility, and all of the jetties along Marine Parade and the eastern shore of North Arm Lakes Entrance, are currently located in the locality of Kalimna. This has the potential to cause confusion and create delays during emergency situations. Several of the jetties have permanent moorings with several people living on vessels moored at the jetties.
Council officers have investigated this issue and concluded that the logical solution is to realign the locality boundary between Lakes Entrance and Kalimna. The realignment will see the new locality boundary run through the centerline of North Arm, from the entrance to North Arm to where the boundary intersects with Kalimna West boundary.
The current Lakes Entrance / Kalimna locality boundary is indicated by the PURPLE boundary line on the above map. The proposed boundary realignment is represented by the red line is marked on the above map.
No addressing issues will be created by this proposed locality boundary realignment.
The above proposed locality boundary realignment adheres to Section 5.2.1 of Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2022, and Section 3.4.2 of the Australian and New Zealand Standards for rural and urban addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011
This proposal complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2022 and the Australian and New Zealand Standards for rural and urban addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011.
