Road Renaming Proposal – Hollands Road to Hollonds Road, Swifts Creek

Council is proposing to rename Hollands  Road in Swifts Creek to Hollonds Road.

The extended community is invited to provide  feedback on this proposal.

Background

Council received a proposal on behalf of the Hollonds family to rename Hollands Road in Swifts Creek to Hollonds Road.  

The proposal included evidence in support of  the name showing that the road provides access to the property that has been in the Hollonds family name for many generations, believing that the road  name was spelt incorrectly as Hollands Road.

Council has investigated this matter and confirmed  the Hollonds family have links to the Swifts Creek area with the Hollonds family first settling in Swifts Creek in the late 1860s. Family members served in the World War I, and members of the family and extended family still live in the area.

The above proposed road renaming adheres to the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria – Statutory Requirements for Naming Roads, Features and Localities 2016 (the Naming Rules) and Australian New Zealand Standards for Rural and Urban Addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011.

Submissions

This proposal complies with the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria – Statutory Requirements for Naming Roads, Features and Localities – 2016.

Affected property owners/ratepayers/occupiers are being consulted regarding the renaming proposal and Council will  advertise the results of this consultation in due course.

Community members are invited to respond to this proposal before its formal consideration by the Registrar of Geographic Names Victoria.
